I read a great book recently, which I'd like to share with you!

Book Description:
What begins as a simple mission to recover lost comrades in the Martian
desert quickly turns deadly as Tyke and the others find themselves
stranded on the Red Planet, with only the slimmest of chances to ever
make it home.
After several members of the group are badly injured during attacks by soldiers loyal to Colonel Burns, the murderous dictator of the Martian colony, it begins to seem that all hope is lost.
But things are not quite what they seem, and sometimes hope comes from the most unlikely of sources. Because even though he doesn't know it yet, Tyke has a destiny to fulfill; one which has been hundreds of years in the making.
If he has the courage to accept it.

My Review:
This was an interesting story. My favorite thing about it is the way
the author sounds as though he actually knows what it's like on other
planets and moons. He doesn't describe them like a sci-fi writer, he
describes them like a traveler who's been there. A traveler who's
knowledgeable about science and can explain why and how the gravity,
different gases in the atmosphere, etc. affect the characters and what
they do. At times I felt almost as though I was reading a real person's
journal - the descriptions were so realistic that I felt I really
understood what it would be like to try to breathe on Mars or take a
flying leap into the sky of Deimos. There's just enough actual science
mixed in with the science fiction to make it seem quite believable.
If you haven't read the rest of the series, I would recommend reading them first. I hadn't (though I'll probably go back and read them now), and so some things in Elysium were hard to understand. However, I still enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who likes science fiction. If you've ever wanted to REALLY picture what it's like on another planet, Elysium will take you there!
